Minimum Wages Changes – April 2016
From 1 April 2016 workers aged 25 and over will be legally entitled to a new minimum pay rate of £7.20 per hour, called the National Living Wage (NLW).
This is the biggest real-terms increase since 2007 and is estimated to benefit more than 1.4 million of Britain’s lowest-paid workers.
In February the Government named and shamed employers who failed to pay their staff the NMW. Business Minister Nick Boles said;
There is no excuse for not paying staff the wages they’re entitled to. Our policy of naming and shaming employers who ignore the law means there are consequences for their reputation as well as their wallets.
