Your Name and age:
Sarah Parry 34
Company name and nature of business:
YummyBums Reusable Nappy Laundry and Supply Service
When did you start your business?
What type of jobs did you have before you started your business?
I have been a commercial clothing designer for the high street for 15 years and still am 4 days a week!
How does your business fit around your family life?
I work 4 days a week and have a nappy run on Friday and Saturday. Sunday is my day off and I spend it with my family.
What has been the most challenging part about running your business?
I believe it is still to come, the jump between giving up day job and focusing on nappies!
How has your business grown since it started?
After the birth of my baby Esme I was made redundant, I volunteered for a nappy laundry service near to me for a year and when the owner retired I took over. I had already gained my own laundry customers where I live and developed the YummyBums wraps and now have regular customers and sales. YummyBums have recently been featured in Vogue magazine, which I am most proud of!
What advice would you give to someone else wanting to start their own business?
Get the right advice, there are alot of agencies who want to help but they can be conflicting. Go to business classes, be strong and determined. The sacrifices will be worth it.
Do you have any tips for success?
Perseverance and patience, get involved with other people setting up business and see how you can help each other.
