If you are the parent of a little girl (or a boy, lets not be gender specific) aged between three and nine, chances are you know all about Sylvanian Families. My daughter has just turned four and was bought a couple of Sylvanian Family furniture sets for her birthday. The unsuspecting purchaser of the items didn’t realise we didn’t already have any characters, so of course like any parent would, we decided to buy our daughter some accompanying characters to complete her set. Now here lies the problem. Have you seen the en-masse of ‘stuff’ you can get for these little families? There are garden sets, houses, a mansion, a school, holiday sets plus many more furniture sets and about 50 different families!! Having said all this, there is something pretty cute about the little family sets, and the furniture is good quality. Some of the sets contain very small and dainty items so you might want to invest in some kind of storage solution so they don’t get lost. For the real hardcore Sylvanian fan you can become a member of the collectors club for £9.99 (UK membership) which entitles you to quarterly magazines, exclusive Sylvanian figures, a certificate and badge and a full catalogue of all the products you can buy (you might want to hide this from aforementioned hardcore fan). The families and sets seem to vary in price quite considerably but Amazon do some good deals. Have a shop around to get the best deal as sometimes supermarkets have good offers on.
I admit to tidying/arranging the furniture in my daughters dolls house and actually quite enjoy it, so I am more than happy to jump on the Sylvanian bandwagon. Anyone else?
